The island’s modern story began when Mike Conner purchased the fort with a vision: a private venue for family gatherings and memorable celebrations. His passion for the island laid the foundations for what it is today.
Today, Mike’s son, Ben Conner, leads the next chapter of Thorne Island’s story. Guided by a deep respect for the island’s heritage, he is carefully restoring its legacy while opening its gates to the public for the first time in almost 30 years. Guests can now enjoy exclusive events within one of Wales’ most extraordinary coastal fortress settings — a rare opportunity to experience history, luxury and seclusion in a truly unique location.
